Cinegi Arts&Film was an action research project to test how a digital distribution service can bring filmed arts and cultural content, alongside BFI programming, to new and wider audiences as a shared experience in non-cinema venues.
The Cinegi Arts&Film service was launched in early 2017 and finished in May 2018. It offered filmed theatre, ballet, dance, opera and music from major companies such as NT Live, the Royal Opera House and the Royal Shakespeare Company alongside content from smaller companies and archive from the BFI, to audiences across the UK. Screenings took place in every nation and region, from the far South West of Cornwall to the Outer Hebrides. Research findings will be published later in 2018.
The project was supported by Arts Council England, in partnership with the BFI.
Cinegi Arts&Film was a public benefit version of the Cinegi service, delivered by Cinegi Media Ltd.
