Cinegi is a secure, digital distribution service for the public exhibition of filmed media. It enables venues of all kinds, from village hall to pub, from arts centre to high street pop-up, in towns and remote villages to become ’cinemas’. It requires no proprietary kit, works as download over standard broadband and the public Internet, is simple to use and all processes are automated.

Cinegi Arts&Film, an action research project supported by Arts Council England in partnership with the BFI launched in early 2017 and completed in May 2018. The Cinegi Arts&Film service offered filmed theatre, ballet, dance, opera and music from major companies such as NT Live, the Royal Opera House and the Royal Shakespeare Company alongside content from smaller companies and archive from the BFI, to audiences across the UK. Screenings took place in every nation and region, from the far South West of Cornwall to the Outer Hebrides. Research findings will be published later in 2018.

Previously Cinegi completed a year long successful beta service with financing from London-based investment group Ingenious. The early proof of concept was funded by both the digital innovation strand of the EU’s MEDIA Programme and European Regional Development Funding via Creative England and was developed as a spin out business from innovation agency Golant Media Ventures.
