Cinegi is a secure, digital distribution service for the public exhibition of filmed media. It enables venues of all kinds, from village hall to pub, from arts centre to high street pop-up, in towns and remote villages to become ’cinemas’. It requires no proprietary kit, works as download over standard broadband and the public Internet, is simple to use and all processes are automated.

Cinegi completed a year-long successful beta service in the autumn of 2015 with venues screening across the UK from Cornwall to Scotland. The small beta catalogue included feature film, documentaries, shorts and theatre, music and dance. It demonstrated that there is a strong demand for the shared experience of watching film beyond the cinema circuit and particularly from venues in rural areas and the fringes of larger towns and cities.

The beta was undertaken with financing from Ingenious Ventures – the venture capital division of London-based investment group Ingenious. The early proof of concept was funded by both the digital innovation strand of the EU’s MEDIA Programme and European Regional Development Funding via Creative England.

Cinegi Media Ltd is a spin out business from creative industries innovation agency, Golant Media Ventures.
